How To Change Windows Startup Programs
In this tutorial you will learn how to change the windows startup programs without using needless 3rd party software. Did you know you can modify your startup programs by simply using the run command? Here is how:
Step One
- Click on start in the bottom left corner
- Click on Run and type in MSCONFIG then click ok or press enter
- If you cannot find 'Run' hold down the windows key and press the letter R on your keyboard at the same time

Step Two
After pressing ok the following screen will appear:
- Click on the 'Startup' tab on the top of the window

Step Three
Under the startup tab you will see a list of windows startup programs. These are the programs that load when your computer start. To stop them from loading when your computer starts uncheck the box:

Step Four (Understanding what the programs are)
Above the checkboxes you will see little tabs.
- Under the tab titled startup items you will see the name of the software.
- Under the tab labeled 'Manufacturer' you will see the name of the person who makes the software.
- Under the tab labeled Command you will see where the application is saved that is being launched on startup.
- Generally you can disable all the programs on this list. The only exceptions could be graphics and sound programs which came installed on your computer. The majority of times disabling these will cause no problems. If there is a problem you can always enable them again by re-checking the box under the startup tab.
- Disabling programs on this list will speed up your computer when it starts.
